Hi, I'm Josh.

So, I had this idea to re-launch McOrigins again with a few missions.
  1. Revolving around the community.
McOrigins was known for its great community. It was a small hole in the wall of a server that gained in popularity over time. There were rumors about the original server closing due to financial reasons. That wasn't it. We as an administration were burnt out. It didn't help that Minecraft's player base was declining when we decided to close. I sometimes say that if we waited a few months for Covid we could still be open today without shutdown. But in reality, the old McOrigins wasn't set up to handle the new changes. I believe we would have been version-locked like other servers are today. Minecraft as it is today is not what it was back in 2018. We can do so much more which will make us more unique. So last year, when we officially started the work, our main goal for our game types was to keep the roots of McOrigins and force community interaction. To this day, I still get messages about who was on their old friends list. To be honest, the initial idea of re-opening the server was driven by the discord chat about players looking for their long-lost friends, and thumbing around the old build server where MotorCraft showed me an unreleased spawn. So here we are. Yeah, we can just open the server with basic game modes and minigames. But that's not our mission.

In conclusion, we as an administration were still in high school (I say administration as the admins and staff members). We are now in our 20s and we want to open a community-based server. That's it. The Minecraft multiplayer landscape is littered with servers that are carbon copies of 20 different servers out there. We want to set an example. We want to be a fun server to play on with friends or make friends along the way. As far as Minecraft's player base, Minecraft isn't going anywhere. Babies are being born, adults get bored and seek out hobbies (look who's talking).

  2. Being open.
Minecraft servers today are running off bad morals. Relying on YouTube channels like TheMisterEpic to expose the rear-end of scummy server owners. To be honest, I feel like servers are opening today to make a few bucks and dashing for the hills. It's no secret as it's plastered all over YouTube. Our hearts are in the right place here.

Our goal is to, honestly, give back to the community. We want to see people start YouTube channels and grow with us (more on this in Kyle's post). We want players to contribute to our server. We want it to be fun working here.

As far as 'being open', we want to be open-source, without providing our code of course. One idea of this I have is Parkour. Parkour will feature a submission-based map maker server. We'll call this server "Creator." In Creator, you can make a parkour map on our server and then submit it to the map repository for the main Parkour server. For these types of Parkour maps, we would like the option for players to be able to download the map. It would come with the world and the data file. You could download a plugin here on our site, drop the file in the plugin folder, and play the map right from your server.

For being a resource pack-based server we keep talking about, we want players to submit art and make resourcepack files that could be applied to our server. Resource packs are challenging. I think it would be cool for in-depth tutorials on how we did certain things on our server for you to get a better understanding of how resource packs work. What am I getting at? Well, as for setting the example, we want to see you open a server of your own. Be unique. Maybe you could be the next big server? Maybe you could do it better than us?

  3. Financials (P2W).
Another key point in this discussion. Money. Again, I'm not going into this for the money. What I'd like is to be able to pay the bills, pay the team, invest it back into the server, whatever. I'd be happy to take home $1 a month if so be it. We have many ideas we would like to patch in, but we'll save those for later.

As for the server store, we believe we can be mostly cosmetic - not just fully pay to win like other servers. Ranks will get benefits that pertain to us storing that data (I'm being very vague). Whether it be a couple of extra rows in the enderchest, a larger friends list, or maybe even your own private server ;). As for items. ALL items will be obtainable in-game no matter what.

We are not here to make a few bucks. I want the team to be paid for their time and work. I want the server to grow.

  4. Support.
Another thing I noticed while doing some research on other servers: where is all the support? When our server was still up, we had in-game tickets. Where is that energy everywhere else? Our support system will be advanced. If we have to over-staff, so be it. But expect support rather quickly from us. It's frustrating to see other minecraft and discord servers have such lacklustre support. Rest assured, we'll be on hand to deal with any issues that you may encounter.

Well, that's me. Read more below and learn more about the rest of our team.

Hello! I’m tae and I’m McOrigins’ Staff Manager, I manage our staff team alongside Duffy.

I’ve been part of this community since 2016, I mainly played Skywars and a bit of Eggwars 'til it became inactive, I moved on to PvPKits and sometimes Creative. McO has been one of the very few communities where I’ve felt a genuine click with, I found myself constantly engaged and I’ve made so many memories as a kid playing one of my favorite servers. Over time, I’ve decided to challenge myself even further, wanting to be able to not only remain engaged, but offer my help and support from the inside.

I became part of the team around the middle of 2018 and skyrocketed all the way up to my position now. Throughout those times I’ve worked with some incredible people that I still work with ‘til this day. These people are the reason I have persevered and stayed in touch with McO and continue to work with the management team to help produce (hopefully) a great server for players to join.

I want to be able to watch this community grow again and create more meaningful memories - that's one of the vital reasons why I’ve always had this attachment to the server.

Welcome back to McOrigins!

I'm Duffy, I was a staff member on the server between 2017 and 2020. Primarily, I played factions and pvpkits, but got involved across the network as much as I could.

We're really excited to be bring back McOrigins. As Josh has said above, hindsight is a real killer. I sometimes imagine what things would look like if McO didn't tragically shutdown 3 months prior to the pandemic. But here we are, and with a much-advanced minecraft version, we're looking to deliver and exceed expectations with the new server we're working on.

Our main aim when we were in discussions about bringing back the server was to, similarly to before, cater to every player's interests. We will have passive gamemodes, with a more creative edge. In contrast, there'll also be competitive and more aggressive gamemodes that require more grinding and combat, somewhat similar to traditional factions and SMP gamemodes - more to come on this in the future, stay tuned for updates in the discord.

The team are working daily on the server, you can see that from the server list. We've brought in a previous McO developer to assist Josh with all the backend stuff. She's meant to be pretty good 👀. We're hoping this will help in building firm foundations for the server, so when it releases, things run smoothly and we don't have the trouble of contacting plugin developers for bugs.

We're always looking for community input and engagement, so get involved here on the forums and in the discord. If you have any suggestions voice them in either. If it's implemented, you can win yourself some long-term gifts...

And most importantly, share the news with your friends! People you used to play with - send them a message! We want as many people knowing the server is returning, bigger and better than before.

We can't wait to see you all online. Watch this space - McOrigins 2025.

Hello McOrigins, I'm Verifyy and I'm the Director for our build team.

I never played on McOrigins, but heard about the server way back as a kid watching ExplodingTNT and PinkSheep videos. Being there at MCO's shutdown in 2019, I saw a glimpse of the community this server had and how much it meant to everyone. I stayed within the discord and one day I saw MCO was relaunching and needed builders.

I joined the MCO team exactly 1 year ago as I write this. Being the new one in town felt a little awkward at first as everyone was close already. However, I never expected how fast they'd all grow on me. Very quickly any sense of awkwardness faded and I enjoy every moment I spent with everyone. The MCO team is one that I instantly loved and who are now like a second family to me. They're a clear glimpse at what the community of MCO was about and I can't wait to see it brought back.

My goal as Build Director is to guide my talented team of builders to create a world that isn’t only practical in gameplay wise, but to create an environment where you're able to lose yourself in and be able to take a step back and enjoy visually stunning views with or without shaders. I always encourage my team to expand their skill sets, to learn new techniques and always challenge themselves by going out their comfort zone. Building isn't just about placing blocks and typing commands. It's an art form, everyone has their own unique style or approach to painting imagination or reality onto the canvas. It's a process of learning, failing and continuing to challenge yourself. Learning techniques and methods from other builders, then applying what you've learnt to your next masterpiece. Becoming a great builder is a turbulent journey. But as you practice on and on, you’ll be able to take criticism and apply it. Most importantly, having no boundaries for imagination and reaching for the stars. You'll find clearer skies ahead.

I wish to be able to see the community of this server grow and see everyone make new memories. We as a team are working hard behind the scenes to bring you this opportunity. We can't wait to see you all traverse our new horizons.

Hello MCO, I'm one of your Senior Moderators!

I've been an active community member since 2016, finding out about the server through ExplodingTNT's YouTube channel, and it's been a blast ever since. I was formally a trial moderator and eventually a moderator up until a couple months before the closing of the original MCO server. I was mainly active on Skyblock, Creative, and Factions.

This team is a makeup of some of the most dedicated to bring this server to life, especially our administration team, who has been putting in hours and hours of work to bring you a revamped MCO server! Although I may not be an administrator, I contribute in any way I can to pay homage to the old server but make sure that people know this is a whole new server as well, and not just a carbon copy of the original server.

I'll forever be thankful to people like Josh, Tae, and Duffy for reaching out and bringing me on as a senior moderator, and having the fun opportunity to moderate and be a part of a community that is near and dear to me. My goal and promise to the community is to uphold the rules of the server but also serve as an approachable member of the staff team that anyone can rely on to ensure you have a fun experience with us. Always feel free to reach via discord, I promise if I don't answer immediately I will answer as soon as I can!

Thank you for reading, and thank you for delving into this new project we are working very hard to bring to you! Best wishes to you all!

Hi, I'm OrangePeels! I'm not usually one to write lengthy posts about myself, but I was informed that if I didn’t, it would show up on my MCORS report (whatever that means :/ ).

I first joined the MCO community in May 2015, initially being introduced to the server through ExplodingTNT's YouTube videos. During this time, I spent an unhealthy amount of hours playing Survival Games. Eventually, when that game became inactive around mid-2016, I transitioned to PvPKits, which remained my main gamemode until the server's shutdown.

I had two stints as a Forum Moderator: from March 2017 to January 2018, and from August 2018 to December 2018. Although the workload wasn’t heavy, I found the role incredibly enjoyable, as it allowed me to engage in meaningful conversations with other community members and directly contribute to the server I loved so much.

Now that I have the privilege of being part of the server's in-game moderation team, I hope to continue this mission and help ensure that we at the MCO team can provide a unique and fun experience for our player base. Thank you for sticking with us so far, and we can't wait to see all of you there when we launch!

Hey there! I'm Keiyun, one of your moderators! A lot of you might know me as PlayingPiano, so you can call me either or.

I joined McOrigins in 2012 but didn't start become active in 2013! Initially I joined because of ExplodingTNT's videos, but I continued to be active due to the awesome community we have here at McOrigins. I spent most of my time on Creative but dabbled a lot in Survival Games, Parkour, PvPKits, and Skyblock.

Before the original shutdown, I was a moderator from 2017 and again around 2018-2019. To be part of the staff team back then was a huge milestone for me, and because of it, I was able to contribute to the server that I played and dedicated my time towards in a meaningful way. I have met so many wonderful people who I love to call as "friends" and without them, I would have probably not have come back.

Now, that we are re-launching, I am excited to be part of the McOrigins staff team once again! I hope to continue serving our community as a moderator, and help us have a safe, comfortable, and fun time in this community that we hold such near and dear to our hearts! Until then, please stick around a little longer, we're hard at work relaunching the server and we can't wait for you to see what we have in store! If you ever want to reach out to me, please hit me up on our McOrigins Discord server or PM me directly on the forums!

Thanks for reading!

P.S. If you can read this, you must be in 10x zoom or have super eyesight

Hello there. I'm well known as Demoted__ in-game, and I am both a moderator and builder for McOrigins.

I joined MCO sometime in 2015 and played off and on till it's closure. I mainly hanged out on creative, while also playing skyblock and factions from time to time. When MCO was open, I went under the name "Killcrafthd37" (still hate that name to this day) and I met many of the people I am friends with today on the server. After the closure, I continued being active during the yearly events due to an attachment to the community.

When I heard MCO was coming back, I had already had prior encounters with both Josh and Motor and I decided to get in contact to see if there was anything I could help with. I am fond of my memories on this server, and I hope that by acting as staff, I can ensure that others get the same experience I did years ago. If you'd like to contact me, DM me at any time on discord.

Hey there! I’m SirSleeves, one of your Senior Moderators!

Some of you might remember me as Moldy_Vort, but I’ve rebranded—new name, same love for the community!

I first met GamePlayerHD and ExplodingTNT back in 2011 on another YouTuber’s Minecraft server, and when McOrigins opened, I was there on day one. In 2014, I officially joined the staff team, and throughout the years, I’ve had the privilege of moderating three times (though real life pulled me away at times).

If you played on Skyblock, you probably saw me there... a lot! I also spent time on Factions, Parkour, and just hanging out in the lobby with all the awesome prefix crews.

Now that McOrigins is making its return, I’m beyond excited to be back as a Senior Moderator—reviving old memories and helping create new ones for both returning and new players. This community has always been something special, and I can’t wait to be part of its next chapter.

If you see me around, don’t be afraid to say hi! Looking forward to seeing you all in-game soon!

Hello, I'm Lewis - One of the fantastic Sr. Mods in the best team here at McOrigins.

You might remember me with the totally awesome name DiamondArmyMC, or Hampion all the same deal really.

I've been around the community for a long time, originally joining Game's original friendly survival server. Then moving onto MCO after it's closure. Literally been around this community since I was 10. 14 Years later here I am, still here with all you guys.

I spent most of time jumping around the lobby and chatting with people (Never been much into the other gamemodes)... I took a break from gaming probably around 2014 came back to MCO in around 2017/18 few years before the servers closure.

Looking forward to the server coming back up, and looking forward to hanging out with old and new friends.

Hey everyone, my name is slashbanme! I'm a Moderator for McOrigins.

I've played on the server since it launched and was previously staff for a number of years. I mostly played SG and PvPKits, but I also played a fair amount of Factions and Skyblock. McO has always felt very special and I'm excited for it to return, regardless of the game modes.

Josh and the team are really cooking up a great server experience, trust the process!
